Series Figures

The fun thing about Demolition Man is that it shows how crafty Mattel was about acquiring a license and spending very little money on it. Nearly the entire line is reused from other lines. After the massive failure of Last Action Hero, Mattel wasn't spending big bucks on this later-era Stallone classic. A majority of the figures are completely reused from the 1989 He-Man (in Space) line and the aforementioned Last Action Hero line. By including a basic Stallone head (and a Snipes head for the villain of the line, Simon Phoenix), the line was set. Now, if you really want to trick out your Demolition Man shelf, get an Otho from Beetlejuice, as the late Glenn Shadix was in Demolition Man as the assistant to Dr. Cocteau.
Oh, and Mattel was right to hedge their bets. Demolition Man was not a massive toy success, and figures from it can still be found in the $5 bin at local toy shows. Still, it provides a nice "animated" style Stallone for your shelves.
